So still using those grinders and mixers to make fluffy idlis ? Dealing with all the mess? Not anymore... here is my very own recipe for soft, melt-in-the-mouth idlies.
What you need?
1. Idli Rava - 1 cup2. Aval / Poha - 1 cup
3. Javvarisi / Sabudhana - 1/4 cup (Soaked for 8 hrs) *
4. Curd - 3 tbspn
5. Salt - to taste
6. Water - as needed
What you have to do?
1. Mix Aval / poha and curd. Leave it to rest for 15 minutes.
2. Mix soaked javvarisi / sabudhana to it. Add salt to taste
3. Pour the batter in a greased idli plate
4. Steam the idlis for 15 minutes
Fluffy idlis ready to eat. :D
Confessions:
- * Soaking time depends on the type of Sabudhana used.
- I loved eating this idli when it is NOT hot. Texture comes out so well this way.. :)
- This is my OWN recipe. I was actually surprised how soft it came out and remained soft even when it wasn't hot...!
- I could eat them just like that, without any side dish. However a tangy tomato chuney or a humble milagaipodi goes well with the idlies....
